Several of you have been kind enough to ask what you could send to us in a care package. I must be honest and tell you that most basic foods and ingredients are available here, in some form or fashion. There are some things that you can't get here (ie-pancake syrup) or that are so expensive that they are reserved for special occasions (brownie mixes-Duncan Hines- $8.50). That being said though, we would love and appreciate some things that will make cooking easier or that we liked but for which we can't find.

Please address the package as it is shown to the left, except indent the address under our names to the right side. This is the proper way to address letters in Hungary. Also, make sure to tape your package closed very well, on all seams and corners, to avoid it "accidentally" being opened.

It is very expensive to mail packages by air mail to Hungary so I would suggest you gather a few things from your own kitchen cabinets, put them in a box, and weigh it, then use the helpful link to calculate what it will take to mail us a package before you decide to go into debt to do this. If you are able to mail us small, lightweight items and can keep it under 2.2 pounds, then it can be mailed as a small package and is not so expensive. (Most packages that we mailed to Kari in Senegal and France cost $20-$40.) Please don't send anything by boat mail as this often takes 4-6 months, and may never get here.

Here are some suggested items which we would love to receive:

used paperback novels (something you've read that was good)
used DVD movies and TV shows

Velveeta cheese in small block (generic brand is fine)

block of Gulf Wax (paraffin)

subscription to Reader's Digest or Prevention Magazine

Pentel RSVP pens (blue or black ink)

Parmesian cheese

Swiffer dusters

Again, we can get everything we need here in Budapest, but we always appreciate getting some things we want from home. The surprise is always fun and it means a lot that folks are remembering us. We certainly enjoy the packages but covet your prayers most of all! Thank you!
